At Royal Robbins we value our retailer network. Our retailer profile series highlights the people and places that help us bring our clothing, and our shared love of the outdoors, to you.
Ski Haus, an outdoor retailer located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has been around since the 1960s. Because of their loyal employees and their commitment to service, their core values have remained the same. Employees of Ski Haus are passionate about the outdoors and love that their workplace gives them the opportunity to get outside. This also allows them to try out the many different equipment options that Ski Haus has in stock. Many employees have been with the company for years and years. The Ski Haus team is truly dedicated to helping you find the right gear for your outdoor adventures.
The Ski Haus staff is a diverse group of people; there are Nordic skiers, alpine skiers, snowboarders, backcountry skiers, rock climbers, trail runners, mountain bikers and road riders. Others prefer less intense outdoor activities. The variety of interests among the staff is a benefit to customers; whatever your question, someone has the answer. Staff members regularly share info with each other, making Ski Haus a place of collaboration and idea exchange. On their website, Ski Haus shares staff picks to let customers know what gear their employees are into. Also, staff photos are regularly featured as their “Photo of the Week,” showing both their employees and their gear in action.
What sets Ski Haus apart from other retailers is their great variety of inventory. “We stock based on the things our customers are passionate about,” says Murray Selleck, manager of Ski Haus. Selleck has been with the store since 1985. The store’s customer base is made up of locals, as well as visitors from out of town. “One of the things we hear is ‘we don’t have a store like this where we’re from,’” says Selleck. Ski Haus continually shows their commitment to their customers by striving to find new and fun products, diversifying their inventory, and providing stellar customer service.
When asked for one camping tip, Selleck recommends bear proof containers. “If you’re heading up to Yellowstone or any of the national parks it’s required. But even where you think bears aren’t an issue, the canisters are still practical to keep the little critters from damaging your gear and your camp safe.”
Visit Ski Haus for all your skiing, camping, biking and other outdoor needs. In addition to gear like clothing, guidebooks and outdoor sporting equipment for purchase, they also have gear to rent like bikes, and skiing / snowboarding equipment. If you’re heading up to the slopes, they also offer a free shuttle services.
