Philip “Bing” Adams first opened Kittery Trading Post in 1938, trading fur pelts and beef in exchange for hunting supplies, fishing tackle and tobacco. More than 75 years later, KTP remains a family run business that upholds Bing’s original commitment to offering quality service, competitive prices and an exceptional selection of goods.

Located in Kittery, Maine, KTP is today one of New England’s largest and most prominent outdoor specialty outfitters. The store boasts over 90,000 square feet of floor space and three floors chock-full of every type of recreational equipment imaginable, including an extensive selection of fishing, camping, shooting, hiking, bicycling, climbing, winter and water sports equipment, as well as sport-specific apparel and footwear.

The staff at Kittery Trading Post is passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about the equipment the store offers its customers.

“It’s not unusual for KTP staff to go on camping, fishing and paddling trips together, creating stories and experiences that we can share with our customers,” explained store employee Lisa Moriguchi. “Our own personal experiences in the outdoor activities that KTP caters to make us expert advisors on which products to use for specific trips or occasions.”

“Many of the staff members who work in the shooting sports department are avid hunters and target shooters and love to camp,” continued Moriguchi. “The experiences they impart to customers looking for that type of equipment is first hand and extremely knowledgeable. Likewise for the staff in the paddle-sports departments. They love to talk paddling trips with customers, and it’s the same for every other department in the store.”

The staff’s enthusiasm and love for the outdoors makes them experts when helping customers plan trips, and giving tips and advice on the best places to go and when. When it comes to apparel, Royal Robbins is proud to be a featured brand among KTP’s carefully selected collection of the best outdoor equipment and apparel the industry has to offer.
